How the Munich to Salzburg transfer works

Once you confirm the booking, everything is set: car class, time, addresses and price. On the day, the driver is at the pickup point with a sign showing your name. Waiting is free until you come out, so you do not need to stand in the lobby with your coat on.

Route, travel time and stops

The route follows the A8 east from Munich, crosses into Austria near Salzburg and ends at your door. In normal traffic the drive takes about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours. Friday afternoons, holiday weekends and the ski season can add time, and the driver plans accordingly.

A stop on the way is easy to arrange: a coffee break, a short walk by the Chiemsee, which lies right next to the motorway, or a supermarket stop before you reach a holiday flat. Tell us when booking, and the time is included in the plan.

Car, train, bus or taxi: what makes sense

Let us be honest: if you are travelling light and staying close to Munich and Salzburg main stations, the train is a reasonable choice. It becomes less convenient when you have heavy suitcases, children, ski bags or an address far from the station, because you add a taxi or local transport at both ends.

Long-distance buses also run between the two cities. They are fine for one person with a bag, but you depend on fixed departures and a stop that may be far from your hotel.

A taxi from Munich to Salzburg on the meter is possible, but you only see the total at the end. A booked transfer gives you a known price, a known time and a driver who waits for you, which matters most for families and groups.
