Uzhhorod is about 330 km from Budapest. The road goes via Chop and Záhony in Hungary, then via Nyíregyháza on the M3 motorway. Here are your options.
Train
Ukrzaliznytsia trains run via Chop, where the wheels are changed for the European gauge, and pass border control. Buy tickets for busy dates in advance.

Bus
Buses run several times a day. The whole bus is checked at the border, so travel time depends a lot on the queue.
Transfer
A driver picks you up at your door in Uzhhorod and drives you to your hotel in Budapest or straight to Ferenc Liszt Airport (BUD). About 4-5 hours plus the border. Sedan from 650 € per car.

How to make your flight
For a morning flight from Budapest it is best to leave the day before. For a daytime flight, allow several hours for the border.
