Public transport from Hallstatt needs planning. The train starts on the other side of the lake, so you first take the ferry, then the train with a change at Attnang-Puchheim. The bus option is a ride to Bad Ischl, then route 150 to Salzburg. Both are fine with a light bag. With heavy luggage, children or a flight to catch, every change adds stress and time.

Where does the driver pick us up in Hallstatt?
